Public Information Evenings: Fens
Tóchar Midlands Wetlands Restoration are hosting five public information
evenings in February and March across the midlands
These information sessions will highlight the ecological and societal benefits
of fen restoration, including improved water quality and carbon storage, and
explain some financial incentives available for restoration initiatives.
- Monday, 23 February: Killeshin Hotel. Portlaoise, Co. Laois
- Tuesday, 24 February: Radison Blu Hotel, Athlone, Co. Westmeath
- Thursday, 26 February: County Arms, Birr, Co. Offaly
- Tuesday, 3 March: Percy French Hotel, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon
- Wednesday, 4 March: Greville Arms Hotel, Pearse St, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
Restoration plans are being developed for 36 fen sites across the Just
Transition region, led by a multi-disciplinary team from Arup consultants.
All are welcome to attend, whether you’re a landowner, environmental
enthusiast, or local decision-maker, this meeting is your chance to learn how
fen restoration can enrich the Midlands for present and future generations.
Light refreshments will be served.
Registration commences each evening at 19:15 with the session beginning
at 19:30.
