On 13th June 2026, the Bog Bothy hosted a Leave No Trace Awareness Course, organised by Milltownpass Tidy Towns, delivered by Leave No Trace Ireland and funded by Tóchar.

Set against the unique backdrop of the peatlands, the Bothy provided the ideal setting for this ethical outdoor recreation training, which brought together community group members and peatland enthusiasts from across the Midlands.

While participants explored Leave No Trace’s Seven Principles, the day also created valuable opportunities to share ideas, build connections and discuss how Ireland’s peatlands can be protected while remaining places for people to enjoy, learn from and care for.
